1993

Founded in Brasília

The company was born in Brasília, initially developing systems for the management of document and archival collections and for enterprise search.

1995

First Search System with Advanced Use of Ontologies

Development and deployment of the company’s first multilingual search system, used at GEIPOT, expanding our experience in information retrieval and research across large document collections.

1998

Expansion of the Client Base

New clients joined our journey, among them ABIN, SEBRAE and UniCEUB, most notably with the deployment of the Thesaurus system for library automation and collection management.

2000

Support for UnB at the Turn of the Millennium

Donation of a library automation system to the University of Brasília — UnB, helping to solve the challenges faced by its Central Library — BCE related to the so-called “millennium bug”.

2005

Partnership with Norway’s FAST Search & Transfer

Establishment of a partnership with the Norwegian company FAST Search & Transfer, an international benchmark in enterprise search technologies, to commercialize its FAST Search technology in Brazil.

The partnership marked an important step forward in Via Appia’s specialization in high-performance search engines, information retrieval and the processing of large volumes of data.

2006

Intelligence and the Fight Against Money Laundering

The experience accumulated in searching, processing and analyzing large volumes of information was increasingly applied to the intelligence field, with projects aimed at combating money laundering, fraud and cybercrime, including initiatives related to the LAB-LD laboratories.

2009

Microsoft, FAST and the SINAPSE Project

Following Microsoft’s acquisition of FAST Search & Transfer, completed in 2008, Via Appia expanded its technological relationship with Microsoft, building on the experience accumulated with enterprise search technologies.

During this period, the company established a technology partnership with Microsoft, notably providing development services for the SINAPSE project, in which Via Appia acted as a subcontractor to Microsoft, consolidating its work in advanced intelligence, search and information analysis solutions.

2010

The LOGOS Project: The Origin of CHRONUSWEB

Development of the LOGOS Project, through an economic grant from FINEP, which gave rise to the technology and the concepts that would later evolve into CHRONUSWEB.

The project was an important milestone in Via Appia’s research, development and innovation in the processing, organization, retrieval and analysis of large volumes of information.

2012

Vivisimo and Continuity in Enterprise Search

Faced with Microsoft’s change of strategy for the FAST technology and its incorporation into the SharePoint ecosystem, Via Appia sought a new technology that would allow it to continue its specialized work in the enterprise search market.

In this context, it established a partnership with the American company Vivisimo, specialized in technologies for searching, discovering and navigating large volumes of information, ensuring the continuity and the evolution of its work in this segment.

2013

IBM Partnership and Expanded Technological Reach

Following IBM’s acquisition of Vivisimo, completed the previous year, Via Appia became an IBM partner, continuing its trajectory in the enterprise search market and expanding its technological reach through the use of IBM Watson Explorer in search, analysis and intelligence solutions.

During this period, the company expanded its work on intelligence projects and took part in the technological consolidation of 43 LAB-LD laboratories, applying its experience in searching, organizing, integrating and analyzing large volumes of information.

2016

NCFTA and International Expansion

Beginning of the rapprochement and cooperation with the NCFTA — National Cyber-Forensics and Training Alliance, an American organization that works together with companies, government agencies and institutions such as the FBI.

The period also marks progress in structuring Via Appia’s presence in the United States.

2020

Expansion of Intelligence Solutions

Expansion of intelligence projects and solutions for different public institutions, including initiatives with the Ministry of Justice, Public Prosecutor’s Offices and Public Security Departments, strengthening Via Appia’s presence in the security and investigation segment.

2022

FINEP, SIABHI and a New Technological Generation

Through an economic grant project with FINEP, Via Appia developed SIABHI — Search in a Box Health Intelligence. The initiative gave rise to the embryo of what would later evolve into Heimdall Cognitive Analytics, expanding the company’s capabilities in search, analysis, information processing and intelligence applied to large volumes of data.

In the same period, a new cycle of technological evolution began with the development of SINAPSE V2. The new generation of the platform started to use IBM Watson Explorer as its search engine, incorporating enhancements, integrations and developments carried out by Via Appia itself to meet research, analysis and intelligence needs.

2024

Consolidation of SINAPSE V2 and the Evolution of HEIMDALL

Consolidation of a new generation of the company’s intelligence solutions, with the continuous evolution of SINAPSE V2 and the maturing of the technologies that would give rise to Heimdall Cognitive Analytics.

During this period, processing, search, analysis and Artificial Intelligence capabilities were expanded, preparing the technological foundation for the next generation of platforms developed by Via Appia.

2025

SINAPSE V3 and CHRONUSWEB Heimdall Analytics

Start of the development of SINAPSE V3, representing a new generation of Via Appia’s intelligence platform and incorporating the evolution of the technologies developed by the company over the years.

In the same period, the development of CHRONUSWEB Heimdall Analytics began, a new platform that succeeds CHRONUSWEB and expands its capabilities for searching, organizing, processing and analyzing large volumes of information.

CHRONUSWEB Heimdall Analytics is also designed to be offered as SaaS — Software as a Service —, broadening the possibilities for deploying and delivering the platform to different client profiles.

The period also marks the beginning of negotiations with SEBRAE for the deployment of CHRONUSWEB Heimdall Analytics, as well as the expansion of Via Appia’s international strategic partnerships, including PENLINK and Ozono, strengthening its portfolio of intelligence, investigation and data analysis solutions.

2026

SINAPSE V3 in Production and Heimdall Cognitive Analytics

SINAPSE V3 goes into production, using Heimdall Cognitive Analytics as its platform for searching, processing and analyzing information.

Going into production represents a new milestone in Via Appia’s technological evolution, with proprietary technology incorporated into the core of the solution and the consolidation of Heimdall Cognitive Analytics as a strategic platform for intelligence, investigation, search and large-scale data analysis applications.

National and International Presence

Via Appia has clients in several Brazilian states and extensive experience in projects for institutions such as the Federal Police, Public Prosecutor’s Offices, security and intelligence agencies and government entities.

With international partners and operations, including Portugal, the company continues to expand its presence outside Brazil and to strengthen its structure in the United States, keeping its focus on developing advanced solutions for intelligence, investigation, search, data analysis and Artificial Intelligence.
